As much as I hate to admit it, I was very late to the party when it comes to London Grammar. I’ve just recently gotten around to listening to their debut album, If You Wait, released back in 2013, and it’s wonderful. To save face a little, I would like to point out that I downloaded their single, Strong, back in 2013 when iTunes still did their free single of the week program, something I wish they would bring back! After remaining relatively quiet for the last few years, London Grammar returned with a gentle roar on January 1st with the hauntingly beautiful Rooting for You, an extremely subdued track putting singer Hannah Reid’s incredible vocals right in the spotlight. It was truly a magical way to ring in the new year. Luckily for us, the wait between songs was short as they released current single, Big Picture, a few weeks back. While it still puts Reid’s vocals at the forefront, the backing instrumentation builds throughout to a climax that consistently gets my head bobbing. London Grammar makes some of the most beautiful music being released now, and with the addition of Rooting for You and Big Picture, they show that they’re here to stay and I’m so excited for the continuation of this new chapter. Listen to Big Picture below!
